WideArray™ Edge Detector Can Monitor Web Widths

No moving parts or maintenance make the WideArray a wise, cost effective choice to make accurate web width and position measurements.

Web width and web edge position can be critical factors in film extrusion and converting applications. AccuWeb’s Web Width Monitor system excels in making these measurements for both acquisition and process control. Web width variations of up to 92 centimeters can be accommodated without moving the edge detector.

The system uses patented WideArray™ edge detectors and a Micro 4000® NET controller equipped with special software to make accurate web width and position measurements simultaneously. The controller can also be programmed to trigger alarms when the web width is out of tolerance, or drifts laterally beyond set points.

A 3-button remote station provides a convenient operator interface that can be mounted virtually anywhere. A unique Job Recipe function allows the operator to store and recall tolerance and calibration settings for up to 25 products and processes.

With a variety of discrete output options, the web width monitor system has the optional capability to communicate with PLC’s directly on the fieldbus. Fieldbus options include DeviceNet™, ControlNet™, Profibus ®-DP, Modbus Plus and Ethernet protocols.
