TOP EXPAND® and SPM Container Closing Systems

HUBER Packaging Group's INDUSTRIAL division offers you two different types of closing systems - TOP EXPAND® and SPM. Both systems require little space and power and can easily be integrated in any filling line.

Top Expand - The Automatic Closing System for Clamping Ring Containers

TOP EXPAND^®is a modern, fully automatic closure system for clamping ring containers which permanently rationalises and simplifies the filling and closing process for pails and hobbocks. Three container diameters cover the entire volume range from 5 to 30 litres. All of the containers are design certified.

The TOP EXPAND^® closing machinery is available in the form of automatic systems for the container diameters of 230, 280 or 328 mm or as a combined system, which is equipped with a double closing head for 230 and 328 mm diameters and with two separate lid magazines.

How TOP EXPAND^®works:
The filled container is guided towards the TOP EXPAND machine across a roller conveyor. The closure element- the lid and the clamping ring are pre-assembled and already sealed - is put on top of the container. In the closing station, the lid and top of the body are expanded into the closed clamping ring. The closed container is then automatically transported off.

SPM – Safe Closure with Strip Sealing System

Over the course of 25 years, the SPM strip sealing system has proved itself time and again. Constant further development and modern machine technology make SPM a safe and rational closing option to this very day.

How SPM works
A pre-profiled tin strip is fed manually into the standard SPM machine. In the case of the automatic SPM machine, the strip is fed from the roll. The tin strip is cut to length and profiled in the machine. After this the lid is positioned and pressed on, and the tin strip is machine-crimped around the lid and container curl. The seamed-on strip presses the lid’s rubber seal against the container curl. This technology closes the container safely and securely. The firmly sealed strip also acts as a recognisable tamperproof closure.
