Setting reference points, checking tolerances, monitoring and adjusting. All this quickly, reliably and with high accuracy: in an industrial field with unbroken trend to miniaturization and continuously more and more complex components, more than ever, a continuous challenge. Two measuring sensors My-Com and IPRM were specially designed for the above-mentioned functions. Both products have a high switch-point accuracy of 1 µm.

Contact-free or tactile? Who can make a selection is spoilt for choice. However selection of a measuring sensor most suitable for the application will hardly give anyone a headache. In each individual application the advantages of one or another measuring principle become evident quickly and clearly: If the application requires a dynamic and absolute measurement signal, force cannot be applied during the process and in addition there is sufficient room for the installation, the it definitely is the inductive measurement sensor IRPM 1219505/S14, which works contact-free.
If however space is very limited, if one clear digital switch-signal suffices to solve the problem at hand and if a few grams can be utilized for the process, the extremely compact, tactile measuring sensor My-Com will be selected. An additional advantage of the My-Com: The counter-piece may also be non-metallic.

To be able to guarantee such high accuracy with a mechanical product, new ground has to be broken already when selecting the materials used. The top of the sensor, as well as it’s control is produced of technical high-performance ceramics. The electrical contacts are high polished gold plated throughout.

Reliable and durable
When designing the My-Com attention was paid at all times to reduce the number of components to a minimum. There are few movable parts, the My-Com has only three, as well as the qualitative top-quality individual components; all of these permit a higher number of switching cycles with unchanging accuracy. Short, as well as linear traverse path in only two directions, operating forces of only a few grams, as well as a generously designed coast down are additional reasons for the above average reliability and life expectancy of the My-Com.
This reliable measuring sensor has been able to prove its reliability in different applications well over one million times. Due to its compact construction the My-Com can be integrated in very tight surroundings without problem. For many applications the small dimensions of the precision sensor (My-Com B 75/80: 14 g) have proven to be of advantage. The application possibilities for the tactile measurement sensor My- Com are almost limitless. There is hardly an area of precision mechanics where this high-tech product had not been used successfully.

The company Iseli manufactures fully automatic grinding machines and planers for band saws. During maintenance these machines sharpen and precisely align saw blades of up to 360 mm. The accuracy is 3/100 mm. The measurement set-up, consisting of a number of highly precise inductive analog sensors type IPRM 1219505/S14 from Baumer Electric, monitors during the alignment process, that this accuracy is strictly kept on the complete circumference of the saw blade (Ill. 3). Due to the sturdy steel casing and a scratch resistant ceramic coating on the surface the sensor can also be utilized without problems in demanding industrial settings.
It should not present a major hurdle to obtain a reliable measurement up to a micrometer without major expenditure. With the tactile measurement sensor My-Com, as well as the contact-less operating, inductive measuring sensor IPRM 12 Baumer Electric offers convincing solutions for your tricky measurement functions and the matter of the hard-to-crack nut suddenly has been resolved.
