Logopak International have recently supplied tracking and shipping print & apply labelling solutions to Play.Com in Jersey in the Channel Islands.
After filling with each customer order, the tracking solution applies a small "print & apply" I.D tracking label to the outer carton side face prior to the carton entering an i-pack carton machine for closing and sealing.
The "print & apply" label acts as a visible identification check as this is the last point before the carton and the pick notes are enclosed within the carton and needs to have a point of recognition for the operator.
To make the solution 100% secure and reliable Transnorm who provided the conveyors, scan this "print & apply" label to recall the label data in order to then generate the data for the despatch label that is later applied on the out feed of the i-pack, this "print & apply" label is for shipping.
A despatch "print & apply" label is the later applied to the top face of the finished carton on the exit of the i-pack carton closing machine, by a similar Logopak 515 T labelling machine.(515 machines were supplied on both tracking and despatch solutions to give Play.com total compatibility of spares and software).
The data for this "print & apply" label is sent from a host system (Play.com) and stored locally within a Transnorm works order programme.
This scan is then used as a look up to provide the Logopak labeller with the data once the box is in stopped and in position and ready for application.
The first two labellers supplied as part of the project were Logopak 515 T units one each for induct and shipping.
4 further Logopak 515 T Labellers were supplied for the second two lines, making 6 units , 3 an all induct, tracking for empty cartons and then 3 for the filled product, for labelling the end user customer address and shipping information "print & apply" label to the customers address.
