RDM Launches new Hot Tack Track Tester to European Market unit measures 'Hot' seal strength in form-fill-seal Applications

Picture the scene, we've just bought a packet of crisps, we pull on the seal to open them, but the seal is so strong that the bag splits and the crisps fall to the floor!
Or the obligatory carton of milk which requires you to be a muscle man to open it, and when you do you’re showered with milk! This can only mean adequate quality control on the strength of the seals has been insufficient.
The new SST-3XS is an improved design on the SST-3 model of specialized seal strength testing machines. The new model features a touch pad screen to set up the machine to run a test and to display the measured values. The machine will pull or compress samples up to a load of 500N (50Kg), but there is a selection of load cells, which is recognized by the machine when installed, 50N, 100N, 250N and 500N. Variable speed set from 1mm/min to 1000mm/min allows universal testing programs to be set up, which meets many international test methods.
The SST-3XS also features a repeat stress program which allows cycle loading of a sample, for example the stress loading of a plastic bottle, loaded to say 20N then 0N for a duration of 500 cycles. The SST-3XS will also provide RS232 output to optional custom data capture software for production of on screen graphs, statistical information and data management. Other options include a variety of grips to suit a variety of applications.
Coefficient of friction attachment for the measurement of slip properties on film, laminates, foils and papers working to the ASTM, BS or DIN test methods means the SST-3XS is truly a universal testing machine which any quality control lab shouldn’t be without!
