Designed especially for high volume wider format jobs, Centurion cuts set-up times and speeds lamination process.
GBC Films Group Europe is introducing new features of its Centurion lamination system, one of the fastest one-sided wide-format lamination machines on the market today. The new Centurion offers an exceptionally speedy and easy to use laminating solution with a host of features that automate and streamline set-up, management, and operation.
GBC Films Group has incorporated a range of enhancements into the new Centurion that ensure consistently high quality output, even as production times are reduced and ease of use is increased. Capable of laminating various types of media at speeds up to 85m/minute (maximum media size: 102cm x 120cm), the system features an all newuser interface with an LCD panel that guides the operator and speeds the entire lamination process. Additionally, automated actions such as stacking, cooling, and film rewinding, along with modem for tele assistance capabilities enable a rapid, smooth lamination workflow.
Capable of processing varied types of consumables, such as polyproleen, clear and matt polyester film, and metalised and gold lamination, the Centurion is mainly targeted to trade laminators, for whom flexibility in format, speed and output quality are key.
“With its extensive automation, speed and ease of use advantages, the new Centurion gives our customers a critical edge over their competitors,” said Giel Klinkers, marketing manager GBC Films Group Europe. “The Centurion enables our worldwide users to cost-effectively produce maximum lamination quality with minimal delivery times.”
Ease of use, with high-quality output
Ease of set-up and operation are integral parts of the Centurion, offering a wide array of benefits to the operator. The newdigital control monitor makes it very easy for the operator to prepare the production process, while the ability to use paper directly from the pallet reduces set-up times. Changing the requested film type is easy and quick thanks to an automatic shaft lifting system and the automatic pneumatic stacker system that facilitates the switching process between the various sizes of lamination film. The Centurion also features a built-in lift for the rolls inside the machine, which obviates the need to manually lift rolls that often weigh more than 50kg. The optional chiller is ideal for particularly thin papers, double-sided jobs and to avoid curling.
Enhanced management and control
A key feature of the new Centurion is Electronic Control, an advanced computerised control system that offers outstanding control of the lamination process. Overlap problems can be better controlled via a long-bar system that considerably facilitates window-lamination.
The Centurion also offers remote service capabilities, via a tele-assistance modem that can be easily plugged onto a telephone. This enables remote software upgrades and reconfiguration and remote checking and diagnosis of hardware problems. There are 60 different alarm notifications for locating the problem via the security panel.
The Centurion comes with two cutting systems instead of one: a regular cutter and an abrasive wheel. This double cutting system ensures no disruption in production if one of the systems breaks down.
