ExPD's Port to Port Solution for Condor Logistics

Condor Logistics is a freight forwarding company operating from mainland UK to the Channel Islands. Its Solihull cargo centre offers secure warehousing, while the operation in Portsmouth also offers bonded warehousing and inventory management facilities.

Focus on obtaining high standards of customer service & on time delivery has led Condor to implement an intuitive POD system for both their commercial & consumer customers ensuring accurate precise information relating to their parcels.

To this end, Condor turned to ExPD, the barcode systems specialists to facilitate the implementation of the project. ExPD fitted the warehouses with an RF data collection system including wireless terminals, portable and static printers & portable label printers. The application manages the consignments either directly into the Portsmouth warehouse or from the warehouse at Solihull down to the Portsmouth warehouse. From this point the items are scanned onto the ship or container at Portsmouth & off again in the Channel Islands.

For the last leg of the packages journey, ExPD integrated Hand Held Products Dolphin 9500 terminals, as it is the only product in the market place suited to Condors precise requirements. The terminals had to be particularly rugged to endure a busy warehouse environment whilst boasting state-of-the-art data capture & camera technologies to secure images of any damaged parcels & a signature at the point of delivery. The data is synchronised on a regular basis enabling the customer’s access to accurate information regarding location of the goods.
