Easiweigh Automatically Weigh and Sieve Fishbaits

Automatic linear weighing & counting machine manufacturer Easiweigh Limited were approached by a leading producer of fishing baits to automatically weigh and deposit pellets and boilies into bags ranging from 250g to 1Kg in weight.

The pellet bait was an easy product to handle because it's a dry free flowing product with a small consistent piece weight so there was no surprise when the product trials showed an accuracy of -0g to +3g when running a minimum target weight of 400g.

The boilies however were an entirely different matter because the customer not only wanted to accurately weigh the product, they also wanted the bits and incomplete boilies that are produced during manufacturing to be sieved out during the weighing process so that they don't make it into the finished bag. To achieve this Easiweigh fitted the linear automatic weighing machinery with a ‘sieve tray' that allows the full size boilies to pass over it and into the bag whereas, the fines and part products fall through the sieve bars to the bottom of the tray from where they are deposited into a separate catch bin.

The obvious benefits of this system are increased efficiencies through increased packing rates and labour savings and better product presentation coupled with a reduction in customer complaints as a result of removing the fines and part products.

A single Easiweigh ‘Midi' linear weighing machine will typically achieve a throughput speed of 10 to 12 weighments per minute but if this isn't sufficient, up to four machines can be combined to give a maximum throughput of 40 to 48 deposits per minute.
