Contract Packing Solutions

Astro Products began life in 1987 as a small hand packaging unit and retailer of cycle accessories. Now some years later we offer a variety of packaging solutions to some of the best Known names in the High Street, all of whom are rightly fastidious concerning the presentation of their products.

There are four distinctive areas within our business:-

Basic hand packaging

A relic from our beginnings but core to our business and very necessary. We have a large pool of very experienced and willing people who, because of our geographic location, have been happy to do the work for us for many years. For start-ups, samples and some small run products, the most economical method.

Machine Packaging

Our specialist service include blister packing, automated counting, skin packing, shrink wrapping, euro slotting and bar coding. We have expanded to new premises with far better capabilities for pallet movement and order tracking. Our growth has been due to investment in the right areas and a customer service level which is second to none, combined with flexibility and a desire to do our best at all times.

We pride ourselves on working closely with our customers; their requirements are discussed and adhered to in all areas. Astro considers that packaging should develop into partnership between our clients and ourselves in order that we can cater for their precise needs and sometimes idiosyncrasies. For instance costing is as important to you as it is to us. We try to get it right so we both benefit.

Response times, customers want orders at times to suit them and we want them to have what they want, that way their business and ours grow. Production targets; if we can't meet the customers requirement we won't take the business. In every aspect of our business we try to do what we say we can.

Quality Control

Our national customers insist on the very highest aspect of this facet and it has been good for us. Astro pioneered the introduction of Gold Standard specimen example to which each member of the packing team works. The initial Gold Sample is signed off by the customer. A senior member of staff replicates these; each member of the packing team is issued one to work against. We also encourage individual awareness of the required standards of quality.
Traceability; we have an in-house system whereby each part of each order can be traced back to an individual operative. In house checks are made at regular intervals to ensure traceability and quality of the final order.

Innovative Packaging

We are stimulated by regularly being exposed to new concepts and faced with differing problems. This enables us to offer a full packaging design and print service from basic board cartons to bespoke thermoformed clamshells and display innovations. Our daily contacts and extensive sourcing base enable us to offer progressive solutions in this area.

Our forte and specialist niche within the contract packing markets is in the promotional and pre fully automated production run of new products. These products are market tested prior to companies committing themselves to new style packaging. We are now in the process of installing a clean room, a further step in the progress of Astro and to the benefit of clients.
