Established in 1998 as a joint venture between Interprint (Malaysia) and Janoschka Group, Asia Pacific Engravers in Malaysia (short form APE) has developed to the leading Pre-Press supplier for rotogravure cylinders and reproduction services in South East Asia.

The success story of APE is quickly told: initially an in-house service provider for Interprint Malaysia (Interprint group is one of the worldwide leading decor printers), the strong demand for high quality rotogravure printing forms for the flexible packaging industry in the Asia Pacific region soon became the base of motivation for the Janoschka Group subsidiary to extend its operation range towards the open market.

Primary offering exclusively electro-mechanical engraving, the investment in a state-of-the-art Direct Laser System of Daetwyler in 2006 rounded up the full service portfolio for rotogravure printing forms including services for Artwork and reproduction. And it opened the doors to the highly demanding tobacco packaging industry. 

The proven DLS system used in the LASERSTAR offers the user clear advantages, which include superior engraving speed, highest reproducibility of gravure results and significant ink savings. Creating the images by means of a laser beam into the zinc surface of the cylinder, the quality of the Direct Laser System is evident by the high resolution of the image reproduction and perfect half tones (vignettes). Line and text elements are characterized by reproduction with high edge acuity and perfect solid tones. Selectively offering a laser speed of 35 000 and 70 000 cells per second, different cell structures (conventional, half autotypical, super half autotypical, Masterscreen) and a screen width of 30 l/cm up to 400 l/cm, the Laserstar technology ensures successful printing results.
